Day 4: A quick trip to Bremerhaven

We went down to breakfast this morning and we're not joined by the 3 brothers that are a part of our tour. After having a few too many beers last night they had ended up in hospital.

Beersies in Germany

So we drove the 30km to Bensemann country to collect them. The Bensemann area is where the passengers of the St Pauli boat were from (the first German people who settled Upper Moutere). As such we went past the Bensemann pub. We're going back to that town for church tomorrow so didn't take a photo just yet.

So it turned out that the brothers had tripped on the cobblestones and then each other and all cut their heads open. One of them has 11 stitches. They were taken by ambulance to hospital 30kms away. After they were treated, they had an argument with the taxi driver so were left at the hospital for us to pick up.

Sunny today and 22, we totally overpacked thinking it would be cold.

Piggy feeling the heat warmth. This was at a service station, they sell beer and hard liquor. The beer was 2.59 Euro

We drove to Bremerhaven and went to a great museum of Germans immigrating to other countries. We experienced what the boats were like and learned some of the history around why they left at various times in history.

People aren't suppose to smile in photos Piggy
The museum had a section on the Lutherbible, the bible translated by Martin Luther after the start of the Reformation. It was a small display, in an out of the way corner with no English. A bit disapointing really.

We saw a big Lutheran church in Bremerhaven but couldn't go inside.

Piggy got busted jaywalking

There was a thunderstorm in the evening and we went for a walk around Vilsen. We got to go inside the Lutheran church there.

An Angel marking the entrance to the church.

The pulpits over here are huge!
...so are the organs.

A cool little park with a pond that we found.

Dinner at the Greek restaurant again tonight.
