Today we went to Wittenberg. It was amazing and we could have spent all day there. It was completely cobblestones and very hard on the feet. Because of the upcoming 500th anniversary of the posting of the theses (in 2017), all the Luther related buildings were covered in scaffolding being restored. We got to see the door, purchase some things in the gift shop, visit the city church and chapel and see Luther's and Melencthon's houses. We ran out of time but also saw the university.

On our way to Buchenwald concentration camp, we hit a couple of good old fashioned European traffic jams and saw our skoda.

The concentration camp was similar to the others with wide open spaces of ruined buildings. A few buildings remained and were set up with memorials. Deitrich Bonhoeffer was there but transferred somewhere else before he was hung.

We then made our way into Erfurt for the night. We had traditional German food for dinner.
